Brett Carr

Brett Carr

Biography

I am the manager of the DNS Engineering team at Nominet who operate several critical DNS Services including Auth for .uk and recursive for the UK public sector. I have a long and varied background in DNS, having also worked for a global ISP, the RIPE NCC and ICANN. I have been participating and attending RIPE meetings since RIPE 50. I am also currently a member of the DNS OARC PC and Vice Chair of the ICANN/IANA Customer Standing committee.

My background is very DNS focused and I would use that focus to hopefully bring interesting DNS-related content to the meetings.

Franziska Lichtblau

Franziska Lichtblau

Biography

Franziska is in the process of writing the final paragraphes on her PhD thesis in the field of Internet Measurement at the Max Planck Institute for Informatics in Saarbrücken (for merly at TU Berlin). Her main focus is on inter-domain traffic measurements, IXPs, security, Internet infrastructure and the Internet as evolving organism. She has a background as system administrator and is active in the free software community.

She has chaired the PC for the last couple of meetings and would love to do so again, especially with the chance to take part in the planning for a physical meeting again in the future.

Jelte Jansen

Jelte Jansen

Biography

Jelte Jansen is a research engineer at SIDN Labs, the R&D team of SIDN.

His research and development topics include the domain name system, Internet protocols, and IoT security. Jelte also works in the field of e-procurement standardisation and deployment.

Melchior Aelmans

Motivation

Having participated in several RIPE Meetings over the past years and by interacting on a daily basis with RIPE members I believe that I have gained the knowledge needed in order to make a useful contribution to the PC.

I’m also a member of the NANOG PC and a board member at NLNOG.

By participating in the RIPE PC I hope to be able to contribute more to the community.

Biography

Melchior participates in several community activities including the IETF, RIPE, NANOG, ISOC and is a board member at the NLNOG foundation. He loves to discuss, present and talk about routing security, Internet operations and routing protocol evolution. He is also the author of several books.

Melchior is a Consulting Engineer at Juniper Networks where he works with Cloud Providers, Data Centers and Service Providers in order to help them build and evolve their networks.

Milad Afshari

Milad Afshari

Biography

I am Milad Afshari from Iran and have a Bachelor of Engineering in Computer Systems Networking. I have over 8 years’ experience in the network engineering field and I’ve been working for ISPs in Iran. Currently, I work for one of the mobile network operators MTN-Irancell as an Enterprise Network Solutions Development Engineer. Furthermore, I have also worked as a network/technical consultant for ISPs and LIRs.

In the last few years, I’ve taken part in many activities in RIPE and RIPE NCC related fields to further my knowledge and share this with companies and colleagues in my own country. I have participated in RIPE Meetings as well MENOG and ENOG regional meetings. Additionally, I received accreditation as an IPv6 trainer through RIPE NCC’s Train the Trainer programme in the Middle East.

I am also a member of PC teams in different communities, for instance, I am the co-founder and have been a PC member of IRNOG for 5 years and I have been a member of the MENOG PC team for more than 3 years.
