Daniel Karrenberg - 21-05-2021 10:30:44
gooooooooood morning RIPE ;-)
Alastair Strachan - 21-05-2021 10:31:18
Morning all :)
Wolfgang Zenker - 21-05-2021 10:31:37
@Oliver thanks again, works now
Sandra Murphy - 21-05-2021 10:33:36
good (yawn) morning
Robert Kisteleki - 21-05-2021 10:35:39
@sandy is it morning there yet? :-)
Daniel Karrenberg - 21-05-2021 10:35:43
NomCom: It was a real group effort. I only shepherded it!
Gert Doering - 21-05-2021 10:35:53
daniel: and thanks for it!
Brian Nisbet - 21-05-2021 10:36:25
Yeah, you shepherded it very well, Daniel!
Gert Doering - 21-05-2021 10:37:03
catherded?
Piotr Strzyżewski - 21-05-2021 10:37:52
@Daniel, You have done a sterling job!
Daniel Karrenberg - 21-05-2021 10:39:24
@gert: i will not spoil it at the last second by putting an animal label on the excellent group it was! ;-)
Niall O'Reilly - 21-05-2021 10:39:57
@dfk: LOL
Gert Doering - 21-05-2021 10:40:25
well, "shep-herding" sounds very much like it originated from "sheep"... :-)
Daniel Karrenberg - 21-05-2021 10:41:18
It consider shepherding a generic term. And you know that the NomCom was anything but a flock of sheep! ;-)
Randy Bush - 21-05-2021 10:41:39
but did they feel sheepish
Sandra Murphy - 21-05-2021 10:41:47
@robert: depends on what you call "morning". we tend to call it oh-dark-thirty. birds aren't even awake yet.
Daniel Karrenberg - 21-05-2021 10:43:49
@randy: OK! I apolofgise and change it to: "I just helped a group of excellent humans to get their work done." Better? ;-) ;-) ;-)
Gert Doering - 21-05-2021 10:47:20
mooh
Erik Bais - 21-05-2021 10:47:45
Daniel : ;-)
Shane Kerr - 21-05-2021 10:52:48
Thanks Elvis. It's good to hear that the legacy data is useful to you!
Shane Kerr - 21-05-2021 10:52:52
I mean historical.
Shane Kerr - 21-05-2021 10:53:44
I think knowing which parts of the data are most useful to you would be very helpful. Do you have this part of your process documented in a way that we can see?
Elvis Daniel Velea - 21-05-2021 10:53:45
:)
Robert Scheck - 21-05-2021 10:55:12
@Shane: I personally cared about the history of prefix holders
Elvis Daniel Velea - 21-05-2021 10:55:51
well, we collect information about the allocation/assignment that gets listed on our website. we do whowas in apnic and arin and we do whois --show-versions and --list-version x in ripe
Alexander Isavnin - 21-05-2021 10:55:53
@Shane and especially interesting very historical data. First RIPE allocations, etc, etc
Randy Bush - 21-05-2021 10:56:09
like this presentation, the CoC bof was all process and no actual content
Elvis Daniel Velea - 21-05-2021 10:56:44
so, ripe allocations and ripe PI, IXP assignments, legacy, etc. same with AS history
Peter Koch - 21-05-2021 10:56:47
also, "presence" should not be taken as support, please
Farzaneh Badiei - 21-05-2021 10:56:58
picture of an ear...
Brian Nisbet - 21-05-2021 10:57:10
Peter, I can tell you that we're not interpreting "presence" as support.
Daniel Karrenberg - 21-05-2021 10:58:14
@randy: i hear you but this is not entirely fair. the CoC TF dealt with the content very well *between meetings*, they collected input, summarised it very well.
Alexander Isavnin - 21-05-2021 10:59:00
@elvis agree
Randy Bush - 21-05-2021 10:59:13
i see no code. what tussles?
Jan Žorž - 21-05-2021 11:02:45
https://www.ripe.net/publications/docs/ripe-documents/other-documents/ripe-code-of-conduct
Mirjam Kühne - 21-05-2021 11:03:24
Thanks, Jan. I was just looking for the link :)
Jan Žorž - 21-05-2021 11:03:32
:)
Randy Bush - 21-05-2021 11:04:09
that is current. we have a TF to move forward. but leo is actually dispensing a bit of protein at the moment.
Daniel Karrenberg - 21-05-2021 11:04:44
thanks for the question randy. I think Leo warmed up to it and it is good.
Denesh Bhabuta - 21-05-2021 11:04:47
Thanks to Leo for being extremely coherent at 2am his time.
Daniel Karrenberg - 21-05-2021 11:05:04
👏🏻Leo!
Randy Bush - 21-05-2021 11:05:05
it's 2am my time too
Ruben van Staveren - 21-05-2021 11:05:30
thx Randy & Leo
Denesh Bhabuta - 21-05-2021 11:05:33
:)
Farzaneh Badiei - 21-05-2021 11:05:55
oh 2 AM ? I was proud of myself for being here at 4. there is always competition I guess.
Denesh Bhabuta - 21-05-2021 11:07:02
:grinning:
Daniel Karrenberg - 21-05-2021 11:07:02
👏🏻Vesna.
Randy Bush - 21-05-2021 11:07:13
@vesna: i am not at all questioning the need for a CoC. i am just trying to cut the presos and bofs that talk about the process of doing the work instead of describing the result of the work
Brian Nisbet - 21-05-2021 11:07:15
+1 Vesna.
Ruben van Staveren - 21-05-2021 11:07:20
:clap:thx Vesna!
Daniel Karrenberg - 21-05-2021 11:08:03
@sandra: they did beter, they *published* their condensation!
Brian Nisbet - 21-05-2021 11:08:19
@Randy: Noted, we'll build a slidedeck to condense all the previous ones and BoFs into a condensed 3 hour period for the next meeting. :) But seriously, more code soon.
Vesna Manojlovic - 21-05-2021 11:09:25
Thank you, Randy ! Please contribute to the follow-up work of the Task Force, on their mailing list: this is really hard work and it takes more then several volunteers. Your experience will be highly appreciated.
Denesh Bhabuta - 21-05-2021 11:09:28
👏🏽 Daniel. Leo is an excellent TF chair.
Daniel Karrenberg - 21-05-2021 11:14:10
@randy: I think what you said was clear and helpful. But then I am just another greybeard who is known to appear grumpy from time to time. ;-)
Kurt Kayser - 21-05-2021 11:14:25
A little less abbreviations would certainly help clarity here..
Mirjam Kühne - 21-05-2021 11:14:52
RC = Review Committee
Daniel Karrenberg - 21-05-2021 11:14:57
@kurt: Nurani cannot hel that. It is an ICANN disease.
Kurt Kayser - 21-05-2021 11:15:01
I imagine new members..
Julf Helsingius - 21-05-2021 11:15:18
Anything involving ICANN will contain an endless stream of abbreviations
Kurt Kayser - 21-05-2021 11:15:43
maybe, but should we not translate to comprehensible output?
Daniel Karrenberg - 21-05-2021 11:15:43
.... but you are right we should avoid contamination and infection as much as possible.
Kurt Kayser - 21-05-2021 11:16:25
@Daniel: this is what I mean.. keep it simple
Shane Kerr - 21-05-2021 11:16:28
As someone on the RIPE DB REQ TF, I totally agree that abbreviations are terrible, and that it's good that we don't have them in RIPE. :joy:
Julf Helsingius - 21-05-2021 11:16:29
@Kurt: is "Customer Standing Committee" any clearer than "CSC"?
Kurt Kayser - 21-05-2021 11:17:43
I mean. I am a long time participating member of RIPE meetings. And if I need to look up every 2 slides acronyms, there there is sth. wrong in my opinion.
Jan Žorž - 21-05-2021 11:18:01
AAAAAAA - American Association Against Acronym and Abbreviation Abuse.
Franziska Lichtblau - 21-05-2021 11:18:04
Maybe on the next presentation once we've quenched our process thrist we can have an overview on the content for those who do not follow that actively
Kurt Kayser - 21-05-2021 11:18:08
thanks, Nurani!
Farzaneh Badiei - 21-05-2021 11:18:15
Boring might be good. but "pretend" that things are boring and should remain boring... maybe not
Franziska Lichtblau - 21-05-2021 11:18:16
THanks Nurani
Franziska Lichtblau - 21-05-2021 11:18:30
[ and my comment just was not fitting anymore, chat wasnt scrolling again - apologies! ]
Daniel Karrenberg - 21-05-2021 11:18:42
Even 'Réseaux IP Européens' has an acronym in it. Or is IP a noun these days, .... or does it mean Intellectual Property? ;-0 ;-)
Jelte Jansen - 21-05-2021 11:18:47
shane: perhaps there is interest for a BoF to form a WG for a PDP which includes the abolition of TLAs and ETLAs. I think the PC could accomodate that ;)
Kurt Kayser - 21-05-2021 11:18:52
no, because nobody understood the content
Piotr Strzyżewski - 21-05-2021 11:19:05
Thanks Nurani!
Julf Helsingius - 21-05-2021 11:19:13
Kurt: I agree we should spell out abbreviations, it is just that ICANN is a master of confusing terms even when they are spelled out...
Kurt Kayser - 21-05-2021 11:19:58
@Julf or try to tell WHAT was the intention of those changes/propsals..
Jan Žorž - 21-05-2021 11:20:01
clap clap
Nigel Hickson - 21-05-2021 11:20:04
Thank you all
Franziska Lichtblau - 21-05-2021 11:20:08
clap clap clap :) thanks a lot

Daniel Karrenberg - 21-05-2021 11:20:10
👏🏻Gooooooo RIPE Chair Team!
